Manchester United are confident in warding off Real Madrid’s interest in Diogo Dalot as the Reds look to agree a new deal with the defender.

Diogo Dalot had a rough start to his Manchester United career, with previous coaches preferring Aaron Wan-Bissaka on the right defensive flank. However, the Portuguese international has been performing exceptionally well since the start of this season to cement his place in the starting 11.

The 23-year-old also had a decent World Cup campaign representing Portugal. Keeping everything in mind, it is highly likeable for Erik ten Hag to extend Dalot’s stay at Old Trafford. Although, his current contract expires in the summer of 2024, Spanish giants Real Madrid have already registered interest in Dalot.

The current holders of the Champions League are keeping an eye on the market to replace their long-term servant Dani Carvajal and according to a lot of previous sources, Los Blancos have identified Ronaldo’s national teammate to be the ideal candidate.

According to Football Insider via CaughtOffside, Dalot is most likely to snub Real Madrid and extend his current contract with United. A guaranteed starter when fit in Ten Hag’s system, Dalot’s influence is well-noticed in United’s games.

Dalot, who has made a total of 10 appearances for his nation, managed to unseat Joao Cancelo, a player on loan from Bayern Munich, in Portugal’s World Cup squad last year.

Aaron Wan-Bissaka, a former England Under-21 international, is in a similar situation as his fellow right-back because he also has a contract that expires in 2024.
