Manchester United ‘in active talks’ to secure “brilliant” singing this month, they’ve reacted to Man City interest

Manchester United are said to be in active talks to sign one of their long-term summer transfer targets after Manchester City entered the race.

Manchester United are approaching the final days of the summer transfer window with plenty still unresolved.

Rúben Amorim has already secured the arrivals of Matheus Cunha, Diego Leon, Bryan Mbeumo and Benjamin Šeško, but the search for another midfielder continues after missing out on Carlos Baleba.

Fans are also hoping for a new goalkeeper signing if Altay Bayındır leaves, with many feeling André Onana being the first-choice in goal could lead to another inconsistent season for the Reds.

Outgoings also remain a priority, with Alejandro Garnacho and Antony among those expected to move on, while Rasmus Højlund has been linked with a return to Italy.

With the deadline set for 19:00 BST on 1 September, Amorim will be determined to finalise business quickly and direct his full attention to the Premier League and domestic campaign.

United facing serious competition for Lammens

Earlier this summer, United held talks for “brilliant” Royal Antwerp goalkeeper Senne Lammens, who is already confirmed to be leaving the Belgian side this summer.

However, despite Lammens being keen on signing for United this summer, he has become a “serious target” for Inter Milan, who were tipped to open talks for the Belgian.

Further to this, Manchester City have now started exploring signing the 23-year-old this summer amid difficulties in negotiations with Paris Saint-Germain for Gianluigi Donnarumma, according to Sky Sports’ Sacha Tavolieri.

Tavolieri has explained that, with PSG demanding a fee deemed too high by Man City for the Italian shot-stopper, they have now turned their attention to Lammens as another option, with Lammens reportedly available for around £17 million.

United in active talks to sign Lammens

In light of the intense interest both City and Inter Milan are showing in Lammens, transfer expert Fabrizio Romano has detailed that United are still working on a deal to sign the Belgian goalkeeper, with talks currently underway.

According to Romano’s report, the club are in active discussions as they look to bring in the talented shot-stopper ahead of competition from clubs in France and Italy.

Personal terms are said to be almost agreed, with the move progressing steadily behind the scenes. United are hoping to finalise the deal soon as they prepare for possible outgoings in the goalkeeping department.

The club’s efforts to secure Lammens are part of a broader strategy to strengthen depth in key positions while staying ahead of rival interest across Europe.
