Manchester United in £35m offer for FC Barcelona star amid future uncertainty

Manchester United are reportedly interested in FC Barcelona’s £35million star, which may open up a new door in the Reds’ Marcus Rashford saga.

Due to a recent turn in form, it now seems far more likely that Manchester United will feature in a European competition next season, meaning that a summer of heavy spending could be on the cards.

Michael Carrick’s unbeaten run of five matches now has the Reds sitting fourth in the Premier League standings with a tricky trip to Everton up next.

One of the highlights of United’s season has been the resurgence of Luke Shaw, who has seemingly managed to put his previous injury woes behind him, although there is concern regarding the Reds’ depth at left-back.

With Patrick Dorgu occupying a more advanced role before his unfortunate injury, United may need to invest in the summer in order to provide sufficient depth for Shaw, and they have now been linked with a £35million option.

United in offer for Balde

As reported by Fichajes, United could be set to make a move for FC Barcelona left-back Alejandro Balde, whose progress at the club seems to have stalled as of late.

The Spanish full-back looked on track to become one of the world’s best in his position, although recent struggles have left him to fall behind Gerard Martin in the pecking order.

United have reportedly offered a fee in the region of £35million for the 22-year-old full-back, with La Blaugrana viewing the offer as attractive.

Barcelona’s financial struggles are well known at this point, and selling a young, promising talent with substantial market value is viewed as a ‘pragmatic decision’.

Balde opening door to Rashford saga

This season, Barcelona has been the home of United’s Marcus Rashford, with Hansi Flick’s side having a £26million option to buy the Englishman if they plead.

The Englishman has four goals and six assists across 13 starts in La Liga, as well as having five goals and three assists from eight Champions League matches, of which he started four.

With the Reds having a reported interest in Balde, this could potentially open the door to some sort of swap deal, which could benefit both sides financially.

Given the recent reports, via UtdDistrict, that suggested the Spanish outfit had offered Ronald Araujo in exchange for Rashford, a swap for Balde could be more than feasible and far more practical.
