Manchester United have responded immediately to a demand made by captain Bruno Fernandes. A ‘formal offer’ is now expected soon.
Manchester United’s pre-season tour of the United States has been a success for the most part, as they have won two of their three outings against Premier League opposition.
Ruben Amorim’s side scored eight across the three games, including two in their recent draw with Everton that saw new signing Bryan Mbeumo feature for the first time.
The 2-2 draw with the Toffees was the first time that both Matheus Cunha and Mbeumo have lined up alongside each other, which will have given United fans a taste of what’s to come.
Despite many positives to draw from the game, United captain Bruno Fernandes still had some demands for his side, and it appears that his demands have been heard, as a ‘formal offer’ is expected soon.
Sesko offer expected soon
According to a report from Sky Sports, Amorim’s side have joined Newcastle in the race for Benjamin Sesko, after the Magpies made a £69.8million bid on Saturday.
Newcastle are currently in talks with RB Leipzig to organise payment structures for a deal, while United are discussing what they would be prepared to pay for the Slovenian.
Sky Sports also claim that Sesko is open to both projects, but one source explained that the 22-year-old is leaning more towards United if they can agree a deal.
Eddie Howe’s side have also just seen Alexander Isak re-enter training, with his potential move to Liverpool now looking uncertain after their £120 million bid was rejected.
United respond to Fernandes demand
When speaking to the media after United’s draw with Everton, Fernandes spoke on the need for more transfers before the window slams shut in four weeks’ time.
The Portuguese maestro said, “I don’t want to take a dig at anyone. I think that the club is doing the best that they can, in terms obviously of all the financial situation that they talk about, I don’t know about it.

“It was crystal clear that we needed more competition for the players that were here. We needed more quality to get everyone to step up a little bit more, to have more to do to get into the first eleven.
“I think that’s what the club is trying to do, the manager, and hopefully we can get one or two players more to help with that.”
With this now being the second time that a key figure at the club has called out for more signings, second to Amorim’s plea after the Leeds fixture, it seems that United are willing to respond with more urgency.
