Manchester United have blocked a request from Inter Milan about Rashford’s availability this summer, according to a mystifying report from Italy.
Manchester United manager Ruben Amorim has not been a fan of Marcus Rashford since his arrival last season, exiling the forward from the squad almost immediately after joining.
Rashford is also said to have ‘no future’ at Old Trafford, with the forward being a key player for United to sell this window in order to afford fresh talent ahead of next season’s Premier League campaign.
The 27-year-old enjoyed a successful loan spell at Aston Villa, but the Midlands club have since declined the option to make the move permanent, meaning the Englishman is once again in limbo.
With United looking to complete a massive squad overhaul this summer, it was assumed that bids for any exiled players, such as Rashford, would be highly encouraged.
United not keen to send Rashford to Italy
In a report that contradicts all expectations, Italian newspaper Corriere dello Sport make the eyebrow-raising claim that United rebuffed a preliminary approach from inter Milan for the exiled forward.
They claim that the Champions League finalists contacted United regarding the player’s availability, but “the request for information from the Nerazzurri club for Rashford was denied.”
In recent seasons, United have struggled to turn a profit on player sales, overpaying for a number of players who have failed to perform in their respective times at the club.
This is why this report makes little sense, as the club could really use the money, and it was recently revealed that Rashford was one of four players to not have a place in Amorim’s squad for their pre-season tour of the USA.
Could this mean a shock-U-turn for Rashford?
Following these surprising reports, there has been speculation as to whether Amorim is planning to make a shocking U-turn and keep the player for next season.
It seems unlikely after his recent comments, and this could also just be a bargaining tactic from the club, as they look to secure the best possible price for the exiled forward.
Other players who are on Amorim’s ‘exile list’ are Antony, Jadon Sancho, and Alejandro Garnacho. Therefore, it is more than likely that we will see one or more of them sold this season to make room for fresh, hungry, talent to join.
Regardless of whether he is sold or not, any news regarding Rashford will be high up on any United fans agenda, as his departure would likely enable the club to secure another top-level talent.
