Manchester United have reportedly already rejected a summer offer for Antony as Rúben Amorim’s club look to hold out for a £30 million transfer.
Looking at the struggles of many players in the locker room, Manchester United let some of their players join other clubs on loan back in January. This decision led to Antony and Marcus Rashford joining the likes of Jadon Sancho as players out on loan from Old Trafford.
While the Brazilian struggled so far in his tenure for the Red Devils, his arrival to the Spanish Club marked a new ‘rising from the ashes’ story. In 15 games, the former Ajax man has bagged four goals and four assists.
Moreover, his arrival at the club has improved Real Betis’ overall performances, and they have managed to beat Real Madrid and tie their recent fixture against Barcelona.
While his loan contract ends in the summer window, Betis does not have a clause to make the deal permanent. However, the club is eager to extend the Brazilian’s term at the Estadio Benito Villamarín.
Sir Jim Ratcliffe won’t entertain any loan extension from Betis
During the arrival of the Brazilian back in 2022 under Erik ten Hag, his £85 million transfer fee raised quite a few eyebrows. While the Dutch manager was a big believer in the Brazilian, his performances left much to be desired at Old Trafford.
However, his short loan spell at Real Betis seemed to remind the Brazilian of who he was. Real Betis are eager to have the Brazilian’s services for a longer period.
As per The Mirror, there was an offer in the cards from the La Liga outfit that would see Antony’s loan at the club extended by 12 months, with a clause insreted that would make the move permanent if they qualified for the Champions League.
However, rumors suggest that United are not looking for another short-term loan. Instead, they are looking for a transfer worth £30 million this summer to rid the player from their books once and for all.
A risky move from United
While it is understandable that the United hierarchy does not wish to see another loan deal for the Brazilian, the loan approach rejection might just come back to haunt them.
After the Brazilian’s loan spell at the Spanish Club, there is no intention from the player’s side to continue at Old Trafford. Moreover, Rúben Amorim does not have plans for the Brazilian as well.
Recent transfer news and rumors about United also indicate that they are looking to make fresh additions to the team that can allow them to compete for Champions League spots in the Premier League next season.
Should they fail to offload Antony, this could cause further financial burden.
