Manchester United ‘have already made an offer’ for eyebrow-raising January target

Manchester United have reportedly ‘already made an offer’ for a controversial star who is set to leave his club in the upcoming January transfer window.

During the summer, Manchester United focused primarily on their attack, although towards the end of the transfer window, their attention changed to strengthening defensively.

Having spent around £200million in building a new front-three, Ruben Amorim’s side then brought in a new shot-stopper on deadline day.

The goalkeeper acquired was Senne Lammens, who had to wait a few weeks until he was able to make his Premier League debut in a home fixture against Sunderland.

The Belgian impressed with a clean sheet and has kept his place in the starting XI since. Despite this, it is being reported that the Reds have ‘already made an offer’ for an eyebrow-raising goalkeeper.

United make offer for Ter Stegen

As per Sport Witness, Sport have reported that Amorim’s side have made contact over signing Barcelona goalkeeper Marc-André Ter Stegen.

United could be a potential option for the 33-year-old in January, and journalist David Ibáñez reports that the stopper is handling ‘several offers’ including one from the Reds.

“Beşiktaş’ offer is much more concrete, but everyone is waiting to see how he recovers. I suppose they’re waiting to see how he recovers, if he gets medical clearance, which, from what I’m told, if everything goes well, he’ll get at the beginning of January.”

“The teams that are interested will have to assess whether he’s recovered, whether he’s fit enough to make a move,” said Ibáñez.

United rumour raises eyebrows

The football journalist continued on the top of Ter Stegen by claiming that the German has already decided to take his next step, with United being one of his options.

“He’s already decided that he needs to take a step, either a loan or terminating his contract,” Ibáñez explained.

“I’m certain that when the winter transfer window arrives, once he’s recovered, Ter Stegen will leave Barcelona.”

It would be pretty nonsensical for the Reds to make an offer for a new, injured goalkeeper, given the success of Lammens, but regardless, the Spanish headline states that the Red Devils have ‘already made an offer’.
