Manchester United have ‘agreed personal terms’ with Victor Osimhen, wage revealed as ‘fee agreed with Napoli’

Manchester United have agreed on personal terms with Galatasaray striker Victor Osimhen, with a transfer fee in place with Napoli, according to Turkish reports.

Manchester United’s struggle to find a reliable goal scorer has been a persistent issue in recent seasons, and one that shows no sign of easing.

Marcus Rashford and Bruno Fernandes have been the only consistent contributors, with Rashford scoring 30 goals in the 2022/23 season.

But with Rashford expected to leave after his loan spell at Aston Villa, and Fernandes now playing a deeper role under Rúben Amorim, serious concerns remain about the club’s attacking depth.

Rasmus Højlund has offered glimpses of quality but still looks too raw to lead the line on a regular basis. Meanwhile, Joshua Zirkzee appears more effective in a supporting role than as a lone frontman.

As the summer transfer window approaches, United are actively targeting reinforcements, with reports naming Victor Osimhen as one of their top priorities.

United ‘agree personal terms’ with Osimhen

According to a report from Turkish journalist Aygün Özipek, following negotiations, United have now agreed on personal terms with the Nigerian international striker.

It is claimed that the club have agreed a five-year contract with the Galatasaray player, with the deal worth just shy of £250,000 a week, less than his previously reported demands in excess of £300,000 a week.

Although Osimhen has plied his trade for Turkish club Galatasaray this season, the player is on loan from Napoli after falling out with the club’s board members, and is expected to be sold this summer.

It has been well documented that he has a release clause of £63 million in his contract at the Serie A side. However, transfer expert Fabrizio Romano recently explained that Napoli would be willing to lower said fee to facilitate his move early in the window.

According to the claims from Özipek, United have now agreed a transfer fee of around £51 million for the striker, which is close to the £55 million reported asking price that Napoli have previously said to be happy to accept.

Osimhen is United’s ideal striker signing

While Osimhen is certainly a name on United’s list, the club are also said to be considering Ipswich’s Liam Delap and RB Leipzig’s Benjamin Šeško this summer.

However, if United want a player who can bring maximum impact and immediate results, Osimhen is the player Amorim’s team have to go for.

At 26 years old, Osimhen is a player who is approaching his prime, and with 77 goals in his last 105 appearances across his last two seasons at Napoli and only at Galatasaray so far, he would bring much-needed goals to Old Trafford.

There have been many comments that the club’s current first-choice striker, Højlund, has suffered as a result of not having a senior player to look up to and learn from.

With Chido Obi now coming through the ranks, United must bring in Osimhen to help the 17-year-old learn from an experienced striker to properly harness his talent and not fall into the same traps Højlund has.
