Manchester United finally ‘hold talks’ with £50,000-a-week star, he is ‘desperate’ for Old Trafford move

Manchester United have reportedly held talks with a Premier League player’s camp and he is desperate for the move to Old Trafford.

Manchester United have prioritised bolstering their attacking options this summer, having already secured the signing of Matheus Cunha and they are actively pursuing Brentford’s Bryan Mbeumo.

After last season’s struggles in front of goal, it’s no surprise that Ruben Amorim has made strengthening the forward line a key focus.

However, United’s recruitment efforts aren’t limited to the attack. The club is also looking to reinforce other crucial areas, notably central midfield and also potentially the wingback positions, as they aim to build a more well-rounded squad ahead of the new campaign.

Despite signing Patrick Dorgu in January and being close to finalizing a deal for highly rated 18-year-old Diego Leon, United remain open to further additions on the left flank.

One player who has recently come onto their radar is Brighton full-back Pervis Estupiñán, and there have been developments over a potential deal in recent days.

United hold talks with desperate Estupiñán

Estupiñán, 27, is a proven Premier League option on the left side and it is well known that the defender is open to leaving Brighton this summer.

The latest reports from Ben Jacobs have explained that both United and AC Milan hold genuine interest in the player and that the Reds have held talks with Estupiñán’s representatives.

While there is yet to be any formal approaches, the report added that Brighton are also open to selling him, although the exact price was not specified.

This follows on from other reports which claimed that Estupiñán, who currently earns £50,000-a-week at the Amex Stadium, is desperate for a move to Old Trafford, and it seems like that is a real possibility now.

Do United need another left wingback?

United’s options on the left flank would be much improved from a year ago if they completed this deal. They would have two genuine first-team options and two exciting Academy talents too.

But some will also suggest that the extra signing in that position is not worthwhile and funds should be focused on midfield or attack.

Harry Amass and Diego Leon will both be pushing for first-team football next season. You could potentially imagine Patrick Dorgu being able to swap wings to the right side on occasion.

It does seem like the kind of deal that depends on the price, and whether it would impact United’s business in other, more important areas of the pitch.
