Manchester United feel one upgrade is “required” to challenge for major trophies
Manchester United are heading into a crucial summer as they look to improve on Erik ten Hag’s squad.
After Manchester United won their first major trophy under Erik ten Hag with a Carabao Cup victory last season, they are assessing where they need to improve ahead of next season.
It has been confirmed on multiple occasions that the club are targeting a world-class striker, a central defender, a midfielder, and – if the budget allows – a goalkeeper.

However, it has now been reported that the club have identified a new position that must be improved upon in order for the club to compete for the highest trophies.
According to The Athletic, it is felt an upgrade on Aaron Wan-Bissaka is required to challenge for major trophies.
Further to this, the club are said to be looking at Dutch right-back Denzel Dumfries, who the report details may have the most compelling case this summer.
The club’s scouting reports rate his intelligence and athleticism highly, and he could be available for £35m.
United have also scouted 21-year-old Jeremie Frimpong, and have made contact with his current club, Bayer Leverkusen.
