Manchester United fans will love what Marcel Sabitzer said about Old Trafford in 2020
It looks like Manchester United will sign Marcel Sabitzer on deadline day, the midfielder played at Old Trafford three years ago with RB Leipzig.
It was an unfortunate evening for Sabitzer, who was part of the team that lost 5-0 to United in the Champions League as Marcus Rashford scored a hat-trick off the bench.
However, a clip of Sabitzer speaking to Leipzig media ahead of the game has resurfaced on social media as he looks set to join The Reds on loan.
“I’m just happy to be here,” he explained whilst standing on the edge of the Old Trafford pitch. “Because I used to see this stadium on TV as a kid and I always wanted to come here.
“So being here as an opposition is something very special. I’m looking forward to the game.”
When asked who would be favourites for the game, Sabitzer added: “In my opinion, United are a big name, a good team and therefore the favourites as well, but we won’t hide from them. We know what we’re capable of and we feel like we can take the three points.”
The midfield player came on in the second half of that encounter but the stands were empty due to the pandemic. He will be hoping to be able to appear in front of a full crowd as a United player very soon.
United’s are playing at the Theatre of Dreams on Wednesday evening against Nottingham Forest in the second leg of their Carabao Cup semi-final, however, that will come too soon for the prospective signing.
The Reds will also host Crystal Palace on the weekend, in a game that could include the Austrian star should he sign with the club before the deadline on Tuesday evening.
