Manchester United fans delighted with club decision regarding Alejandro Garnacho
Manchester United fans are delighted with the club’s decision regarding Alejandro Garnacho ahead of the summer Olympics.
Garnacho, 19, enjoyed a highly successful season with United last term, making 50 appearances and contributing to 15 goals directly.
The teenager opened the scoring at Wembley last weekend, helping Erik ten Hag’s side secure a 2-1 victory over Manchester City and clinch the FA Cup for the 13th time.
Ahead of the summer, Argentina have requested United release Garnacho for the 2024 Olympic Games in Paris. Javier Mascherano is keen to include the wide player in his squad for the football event at the Games.
However, it has been clarified by Argentine reporter Gastón Edul that Garnacho will not be heading to the Olympics after United refused the request from his nation.
After an extremely busy season, which saw Garnacho start more games than any other United player, it is viewed as a good move from the Reds.
One fan wrote, “Good decision. He needs to rest and recover. Hopefully he achieves the core strength to deal with the physicality before the new season.”
“YESSS. Learn from Pedri, he played over 60+ match in 22/23 at such a young age like Garna, get exhausted and he’s become injury prone right now,” another detailed.
A third added: “He’s 19 and just started bare consecutive games in the prem + Copa America. That rest will be really beneficial to both him and us next season.”
Garnacho looks set to be heading to the Copa America instead, which will be more than enough football ahead of the 2024/25 campaign.
The international tournament starts on 21 June, with the final being played on 15 July.
