Manchester United fans completely agree with Ruben Amorim about “really good” player vs Newcastle

Manchester United and Ruben Amorim could only take several small positives from their embarrassing 4-1 defeat against Newcastle on the weekend.

It was yet another disappointing result for Manchester United on Sunday afternoon as they fell to a 4-1 defeat against Newcastle away from home.

The Reds could argue that all four of the goals they conceded were caused by their own mistakes.

After going behind early in the game, Ruben Amorim’s side actually fought back well and scored a great goal through Alejandro Garnacho to level the scoring before the break.

However, the second-half display from United was a disgrace and they deservedly shipped three further goals to make it a comfortable day at the office for Newcastle.

United now have to dust themselves off and look ahead to their most important game of the season against Lyon on Thursday evening in the Europa League.

United fans impressed by Amass display vs Newcastle

It is hard to take many positives from such a result but the display from 18-year-old Harry Amass certainly deserved some praise.

The teenager came in for his first start in senior football after making his debut against Leicester City last month and looked more than comfortable in a difficult away ground.

A standout moment from Amass came in the first-half where he danced past three or four Newcastle players with some sharp dribbling and a one-two before Garnacho almost scored a second.

He came off after 55 minutes, with the scoreline at 2-1, but that was enough time on the pitch to impress the fanbase and Amorim had a similar view to them.

Amorim agrees with United fans on Amass

“I think he did quite well,” Amorim told journalists when asked about the performance of Amass after full-time.

“He caught a player that is really fast, he debuted in maybe one of the hardest stadiums with one team that is in a good moment.

“I think he did really good. He needs to continue and we need to help all these young kids. To perform in a higher level.”

Amass has now been involved in the first-team squad in eight consecutive games and that trend will likely continue heading into the final part of the season.

However, after providing a solid account of himself on Sunday afternoon, the teenager might start to actually get more game-time on the pitch.

He is eligible to play in the Europa League and will likely be in the squad to face Lyon in a crucial clash next week.
