Manchester United eye up Real Madrid duo ahead of Casemiro departure

Manchester United are looking to revamp their midfield in the summer, and have added a Real Madrid duo to their shortlist to replace the departing Casemiro.

Manchester United will have a difficult task on their hands in the summer, as they will need to replace their veteran midfielder Casemiro, who will leave the club once the season ends.

The Brazilian midfielder has been immense for United over the last year and has been detrimental to his side’s turnaround under Michael Carrick in the first few months of the year.

Casemiro’s importance at Old Trafford cannot be understated, as his impressive displays have helped boost the Reds up to third in the Premier League standings.

Many players have been linked with the role of sitting alongside Kobbie Mainoo and Bruno Fernandes in the United midfield, with two Real Madrid stars also being added to the shortlist.

United linked with Madrid duo

As reported by United in Focus, the Red Devils have added both Eduardo Camavinga and Aurelien Tchouameni to their shortlist in their search for a Casemiro replacement.

It had already been reported by respected football journalist Andy Mitten that United were eyeing players from Spain, which explains Carrick’s side’s interest in the French duo.

Real Madrid have a plethora of options in their midfield, which may allow United to come in for either Camavinga or Tchouameni should they make a move.

It is uncertain how much either of this pair may cost if they become available in the summer, though it is likely to be in a similar price range to other United targets, Elliot Anderson and Adam Wharton.

Should United stay domestic?

During the summer transfer window, the Reds drastically improved their squad through four additions, with two of their major signings being Premier League-proven players.

The Reds brought in both Bryan Mbeumo and Matheus Cunha to improve their attack, which has so far worked very well, with the pair scoring 15 and assisting 5 in the league alone.

United have been linked to many names within the English top-flight to bolster their midfield, such as Wharton, Anderson, Carlos Baleba, Sandro Tonali and Mateus Fernandes.

Clearly, Carrick’s side are keen on recruiting within the Premier League, though if they are to venture out, the French Madrid duo may be very attractive options.
