Manchester United ‘enquire’ for Real Madrid superstar as ‘unsettled’ ace possibly leaving this summer

Manchester United have reportedly contacted Real Madrid regarding the availability of one of Europe’s best players, following a potential transfer window opportunity.

Following another busy summer transfer window for Manchester United, which saw the arrival of three new attackers in Bryan Mbeumo, Matheus Cunha, and Benjamin Šeško, as well as goalkeeper Senne Lammens, the Reds reportedly should be looking to add to this with a huge name next summer.

With United reportedly looking to prioritise strengthening their midfield next summer, with names such as Adam Wharton, Elliot Anderson, and Carlos Baleba being mentioned.

It is yet to be seen how much, if any, funds will be allocated to further strengthen the forward line after the previous summer windows’ incomings.

However, in a scenario where an opportunity too good to ignore were to arise, United would perhaps have to find themselves throwing their name in the hat, with this newly rumoured move more than fitting the bill.

United make contact regarding potential Vinicius Jr deal

According to reports from the daily briefing, which were further covered in Caught Offside, Man United have made contact with Real Madrid with Vinicius Junior’s representatives.

These links come following alleged issues between Vinicius and manager Xabi Alonso, who became Madrid’s manager this summer following his departure from Bayer Leverkusen.

Some of these issues have also been visible on the pitch, with Vinicius looking visibly frustrated when subbed off in Madrid’s 2-1 home victory over El Clásico rivals Barcelona, with the two alleged to have exchanged words during the altercation.

However, according to sources close to Madrid, the Spanish giants do not want to sanction a move away for Vinicius in the near future, with club president Florentino Perez and the player apparently sharing a good relationship.

How likely are United to move for Vinicius?

As previously mentioned, United will be coming back off a summer transfer window, which has already seen them add 3 new high-profile forwards to the squad, already making a move for Vinicius unlikely.

As well as this, with Vinicius rumored to be on upwards of £350,000 a week and said to be demanding more money from Los Blancos to resign, these wages would heavily damage the new wage structure that United have tried to build in the last couple season, after years of paying excessive wages and ultimately paying the price for it, making players harder to sell if they do nor perform.

Even if United were theoretically able to attract and afford Vinicius Junior, which is a hard enough task as it is as every club in Europe would be in for a chance at the Brazilian’s signature, there would be doubts as to where a player of his profile would even fit in in a Ruben Amorim system, as a flairy goalscoring winner, I doubt he would be pleased when asked to play left wing back.

Ultimately, it is yet to be seen if United will make any concrete moves for Vinicius Junior, or if he will even end up leaving Madrid, but if he does, it will be intriguing to see if United would be sprung into action.
