Manchester United have reportedly delivered an ultimatum to Antony after being frustrated by the winger’s actions so far in the transfer window.
Manchester United are looking to build on their summer business, having already brought in Matheus Cunha, Bryan Mbeumo, Diego Leon, and Benjamin Šeško.
To finance further additions, the club is prepared to part ways with several fringe players, with Antony among those available for transfer.
The Brazilian winger struggled to make an impact at Old Trafford following his 2022 arrival but regained form last season while on loan at Real Betis.
Although Betis were expected to secure his services permanently, they have so far fallen short of United’s asking price and are instead pushing for another loan arrangement.
United deliver shock ultimatum to Antony after being “frustrated”
According to a fresh report from Spanish outlet ABC, United are pushing for a quick resolution to Antony’s future, refusing to let him hold out until the end of the transfer window for a move to Betis.
It is stated that the club has issued an ultimatum, giving the Brazilian until the start of the Premier League campaign to accept one of several offers worth £26–35 million from elsewhere, or risk being sidelined until January, potentially costing him a place at the 2026 World Cup.
United’s campaign begins against Arsenal next weekend on Sunday, 17 August against Arsenal at Old Trafford.
Betis, meanwhile, are biding their time, hoping to swoop late in the market for a loan deal that includes an option or obligation to buy a percentage of his rights at the end of the 2025/26 season.
Negotiations between the clubs remain tense, with United wary of creating the impression that Betis is his only destination. They have been left ‘frustrated’ with how Antony has dealt with his situation this window.
Antony and Garnacho missed full pre-season
Some people have blamed the club for the way that Antony and Alejandro Garnacho have dragged out their transfer sagas, saying that United showed their hand when placing them in the ‘bomb squad’.
Others suggest that these kind of moves are necessary to protect the vibe in Amorim’s camp, while also making it clear to the players that they must find moves elsewhere.
United might have assumed that these players would want to push for moves as soon as possible to ensure they have a full pre-season at their new clubs and have a strong start to the season ahead of the World Cup.

That is exactly what Marcus Rashford done. Even if he didn’t secure a move to Barcelona, Rashford wanted to be included in United’s pre-season tour.
Instead, Antony and Garnacho have been sitting in their gyms all summer, waiting for United to bow down to their desired clubs demands.
If the above report is to be believed, then it seems like United are putting their foot down in regards to Antony’s situation, and it will hopefully mean a resolution is found in the coming days.
