Manchester United deal is “back on track” after worrying transfer report
One Manchester United deal appears to be “back on track” this week following a worrying transfer report.
The Reds have signed two players so far this summer in Leny Yoro and Joshua Zirkzee, addressing two key areas Erik ten Hag’s side needed strengthening.
However, there are still multiple other areas to improve before the transfer market closes, and in order to sign more players, United must sell some in their existing squad.
Mason Greenwood and Willy Kambwala have departed in recent weeks, as well as Raphaël Varane and Anthony Martial leaving at the conclusion of their contracts last month.
Aaron Wan-Bissaka is one player who has been linked with a move away, initially to West Ham, with the Reds aiming to sign Bayern Munich defender Noussair Mazraoui to replace the right-back.
However, earlier this week, reports emerged that West Ham had agreed to a deal with Bayern for Mazraoui themselves, leaving the Reds without a clear buyer for Wan-Bissaka and their no.1 replacement unavailable.
Following on from that, it was revealed that Mazraoui had rejected the proposal from the Hammers and wanted to give direct priority to a United move.
That has reportedly led to West Ham reigniting their plans to sign Wan-Bissaka, and with United lowering their price demands for the defender, it appears a deal could be struck.
In an update posted via Patreon, as cited by The West Ham Way, the reliable ‘ExWHUEmployee’ said: “It seems like our plan to sign Aaron Wan-Bissaka from Manchester United is back on track.
“Their manager, ten Hag, worked with him at Ajax and identified him as his number one target, with Dutch defender Denzel Dumfries of Inter Milan as his second choice. It appeared that a deal involving Wan Bisakka to Inter was also on the cards.
“By coming close to signing for us we have triggered Manchester United to move for the Moroccan international as hoped, and in turn cool some of their interest in Dumfries.
“Not only does this mean Inter are likely to not want Wan-Bisakka now, but it means Manchester United have less options to sell to and have reduced their price.
“In turn we can now offer more to Wan-Bisakka to get closer to the wages that Inter had tempted him by. This is a classic domino effect transfer and whilst it has a number of variables and points that it can break down at, that is the master plan.
“Of course other targets (Raoul Bellanova and others) have been explored by Steidten, who is currently with the first team squad in the USA, as back up options but the hope is we now stand a good chance with Wan-Bissaka.
“It is worth noting that Lopetegui almost signed the player for Wolves when he was their manager, and he is also very keen on the move.”
