Manchester United confirm hopeful Lisandro Martínez injury return date
Manchester United have confirmed the expected return date of Lisandro Martínez following his knee injury against West Ham United on Sunday afternoon.
The atmosphere at Old Trafford was electric as Manchester United secured a resounding 3-0 victory against West Ham, courtesy of an outstanding goal by Rasmus Højlund and two additional strikes by Alejandro Garnacho.
This marked Erik ten Hag’s most convincing triumph of the season; nonetheless, a sombre note emerged as Lisandro Martínez had to be substituted due to a knee injury in the second half.

After a clash with Vladimir Coufal, Martínez displayed visible discomfort with his right knee. Despite attempting to persevere, he was eventually substituted just minutes later.
Manchester United have now released the following statement on his injury.
“Lisandro Martinez has sustained an injury to the medial collateral ligament in his knee and is expected to be out of action for at least eight weeks.
“The Argentine defender left the field in the 71st minute of our 3-0 win over West Ham United at Old Trafford on Sunday.
“We all wish Licha a speedy recovery and look forward to seeing him back on the pitch later in the season.”
Eight weeks would put Martínez’s return as the beginning of April, possibly a return against Chelsea away from home on 3 April. If not then, and if his recovery goes well, he could be available for the fixture against Liverpool at Old Trafford, currently scheduled to kick off on 6 April.
