Manchester United have stepped up their pursuits to sign a Newcastle duo, amid rumours of the board preparing an “all-out offensive” bid for the pair.
The summer rebuild has started to pay dividends for Manchester United. Christopher Vivell and his recruitment team aced the signings, and United have improved tenfold because of it.
Key attacking players, such as Bryan Mbeumo and Matheus Cunha, have initiated a transformation of the Reds’ offence, already improving on the 44 Premier League goals scored last season, with 11 games to go.
Benjamin Šeško’s recent form has complemented the improvement in results, as has Senne Lammens. United look to have nailed a transfer window, which I must say, is rare.
That said, the board is not done, it seems. Reports suggest United are preparing an “all-out offensive” bid for a Newcastle duo, in a period of uncertainty for the Toon.
Tonali and Gordon eyed by United
International talents Sandro Tonali and Anthony Gordon have been shortlisted by the board, as the Reds seek to commence “a major squad overhaul this summer to compete for the Premier League title”, as per Football 365.
Gordon has become a mainstay in Eddie Howe’s Newcastle side, offering an elusive, intense attacking output that has previously propelled the club into the top four and, subsequently, Champions League football.
Recent form for the 25-year-old has dipped, as Gordon has only registered five goal contributions in the Premier League this season, but has been impressive in the Toon’s Champions League run, as he’s scored ten in as many games.
Tonali arrived at Newcastle off the back of a broken relationship with his boyhood side, AC Milan. The club decided a £70 million offer from Newcastle was too lucrative to ignore, especially given the Italian club’s financial constraints.
The Italy international arrived in the North East of England and was immediately hit with a 10-month ban from football, but has since found his home in Howe’s squad, representing the club 99 times in three seasons, and building a solid midfield with Bruno Guimãres and Joelinton.
The People’s Person has stated: “United are ‘confident’ that the appeal of their project and the presence of Carrick will be key factors in convincing players to move to Old Trafford.”

United raise £170 million for bid
United are preparing an “all-out offensive” bid for the pair, and that bid stems from an approximate £170 million raised this season.
This comes from the sale of Antony in the summer, Casemiro’s decision not to renew his contract, and the eventual loan-to-buy sales of Marcus Rashford and Rasmus Højlund, which look increasingly likely to be completed.
United look set to launch a lucrative bid in order to entice Newcastle into selling the duo, and £170 million should be enough to do just that.

Newcastle have faced financial troubles as of late, which has prevented them from securing crucial signings to build on an improving side, despite the Magpies being one of the richest clubs in world football.
United fans have been promised a midfield signing, and with the departure of Casemiro, this will become imperative. Elliott Anderson and Adam Wharton have been speculated about, but Tonali may be the perfect signing if the board can get this deal over the line.
