Manchester United bosses annoyed by ‘unnecessary’ Ruben Amorim move which made life difficult for Jason Wilcox

Those in charge at Manchester United have reportedly been annoyed by an ‘unnecessary’ move from Ruben Amorim which made life difficult for Jason Wilcox.

Manchester United have had a difficult start to the season, with Ruben Amorim’s side managing just one win, one draw and two defeats in their opening four games of the campaign.

The season kicked off with a narrow 1-0 loss to Arsenal, a match that hinted at promise but ultimately delivered no points. A 1-1 draw away to Fulham followed, though it did little to improve the atmosphere around the club.

Things worsened in the Carabao Cup, where United suffered a humiliating exit at the hands of League Two side Grimsby Town, losing on penalties after a 2-2 draw. Relief finally arrived with a first victory; a 3-2 triumph over Burnley, sealed by Bruno Fernandes’ dramatic stoppage-time penalty.

Up next is the Manchester derby at the Etihad after the international break, a difficult challenge in which Amorim will be desperate for his players to rise to the occasion.

But outside of the pitch, the United boss must also improve after reportedly annoying his bosses with a recent comment to the media.

United bosses annoyed by ‘unnecessary’ Amorim move

United were busy in the final days of the transfer window with both incomings and outgoings on the agenda. One of the surprising topics of this period was the potential departure of Kobbie Mainoo.

There were various clubs who enquired about the 20-year-old midfielder after he requested to leave on loan. GiveMeSport report that Jason Wilcox was scrambling in the final days of the window to diffuse this situation.

Mainoo’s request came shortly after Amorim told journalists that he was in direct competition with Bruno Fernandes for a place in the team.

The aforementioned report claims that United bosses viewed with as a ‘stupid and unnecessary’ move by Amorim. The comment lacked ’emotional intelligence’ in relation to United’s history of bringing through academy players.

Those in charge at Old Trafford admirer Amorim’s honesty but it is claimed there is a growing feeling that the Portuguese boss must be more savvy in front of the media.

Amorim will hope he doesn’t cause more stirs

Amorim’s honesty has been refreshing in moments but as the report suggests, it is not always the best way for Amorim to deal with things.

The United boss suggested himself that he will not be as open in the media this season but emotions still seem to be getting the better of him in different moments.

Mainoo and Fernandes were the midfield pivot which ended the game against Burnley, which shows that they aren’t going to be competing all of the time for just one position.

With the Reds back in action soon, Amorim will be back in the press conference room and he will be hoping that he doesn’t cause any more stirs with his words.
