Manchester United are ‘refusing to even talk about’ dream summer move despite green light from directors

Manchester United are looking unlikely to budge on their stance on one of the players set to be leaving Old Trafford this summer even after a positive meeting.

Manchester United have just wrapped up one of their most disappointing campaigns in recent memory, and sweeping changes are urgently required to revive their fortunes at Old Trafford.

The focus this summer must be on securing top-tier signings like Matheus Cunha, while also clearing out a significant number of underperforming players.

Ruben Amorim, meanwhile, will be under considerable pressure to adapt and sharpen his tactical approach in the Premier League after a rocky introduction to English football.

Many view this upcoming transfer window as the most pivotal in years — a potential turning point that could spark genuine progress if the club makes the right moves.

United refusing to talk about Rashford’s dream move

One of the most important aspects of the summer will be the amount of cash United can generate from sales. Since they are not in European competition next season, there is no reason for Amorim’s squad to be large.

Marcus Rashford is among the players who are expected to be sold after being loaned out in January to Aston Villa. While they are not likely to sign him permanently, the 27-year-old has a dream move to Barcelona on the cards.

According to a report from Sport, Rashford’s agent met with Barca’s director of football Deco this week and there was a positive feeling afterwards, with claims that the player has ‘passed the Barca test’.

However, a lot of the media reports about this potential deal have all been mentioning about an initial loan from Old Trafford – the aforementioned report states that United ‘are currently refusing to even talk about another loan deal’ for Rashford, who they value at around £40 million.

It was explained that the La Liga giants are trying to work out a way to satisfy United, such as the potential of a loan with an obligation to buy, but the Reds are ‘inflexible’ at the moment and committed to securing a permanent deal.

United’s loans aren’t working completely

United have attempted to utilise loans more often in recent years for their struggling senior players but all it has seemed to do is cause more aggravation when attempting to sell these players.

Of course, they have given the chance for certain stars to try and revive their career but afterwards it seems unlikely they will be returning and also that they can leave permanently.

Borussia Dortmund lauded Jadon Sancho on his return to the Bundesliga but failed to even attempt to sign him permanently the following summer.

Now, despite having good seasons on loan, both Antony and Rashford seem like they are going to be wasting United’s time as they try to actually get fees for their players.

Some reports have suggested that the Reds think that they can receive upwards of £70 million for both players, which seems like a tall ask when clubs are only interested in talking about loans.
