Manchester United are ready to offer £85m for the “most complete player in football”

Manchester United are planning for an ambitious move to secure the signature of a midfielder who is reportedly described as the ‘most complete player in football’ by his manager.

A total squad shake-up is on the cards for the Red Devils at the end of the season. While United are actively exploring the market for better options in their forward, Rúben Amorim’s problem go way beyond strikers.

Keeping Bruno Fernandes aside, the performance of Amorim’s midfield is nothing more than subpar. Naturally, the club is looking to introduce not only short-term but long-term solutions that can allow the Portuguese manager to dominate the midfield in the league, which is key in Amorim’s approach of the game.

While Manuel Ugarte and Kobbie Mainoo are still viable options for United next season, the introduction of a box-to-box midfielder will only strengthen United’s midfield.

Reports from Fichajes suggests that the United hierarchy is wasting no time in looking for the perfect fit for Amorim’s 3-4-3 or rather 3-4-2-1 formation.

United are considering a £85m move for Valverde

26-year-old Fede Valverde has been phenomenal for the Los Blancos over many seasons now. He is Carlo Ancelotti’s favorite. The manager has previously described him as the “most complete player in football.”

There’s no secret why United are keen on signing the Uruguayan. Amorim could do wonders with an engine like Valverde in his midfield.

From deeper-lying midfielder to winger, Valverde has been the most versatile player for Real Madrid along with Eduardo Camavinga. He is indeed the perfect addition for the squad due to his leadership abilities in the pitch along with his versatility that allows him to fill in multiple positions.

However, Valverde has solidified his position in Ancelotti’s starting XI. Therefore, a €100 million move is still considered ambitious since convincing Madrid to part ways with the Uruguayan is indeed a daunting task.

Valverde to stay at Madrid

Being one of Ancelotti’s favorites and his contract running up to 2029, it seems highly unlikely that United could convince the 26-year-old to join the Red Devils next season.

In this season only, Valverde has made 46 appearances across all competitions, netting eight goals and providing seven assists. These number barely highlights what a strong influence he has for his team.

The midfielder is at his peak right now, and he has no reason to depart from the Spanish Giants at all.

In addition to Valverde, United is closely monitoring Hakan Calhanoglu from Inter. Moreover, they are in the race with Tottenham Hotspur to acquire the signature of Eberechi Eze from Crystal Palace. Safe to say, United are on the move to introduce some big names in the coming summer window.
