Manchester United are “being used” in three potential deadline-day transfers this week, according to one reporter.

So far this summer, the Reds have secured the signings of Leny Yoro, Matthijs de Ligt, Noussair Mazraoui, and Joshua Zirkzee.

Manuel Ugarte is also expected to sign for the Old Trafford outfit, and they have been targeting some extremely interesting youth talent as well.

However, as always, there have been some interesting reports emerging in recent days.

It has been mentioned that a potential swap deal could see Ben Chilwell or Raheem Sterling join United in place of Jadon Sancho.

Meanwhile, reports elsewhere claimed that United opened talks with Brentford striker Ivan Toney this week to discuss a potential transfer.

All three of those are coincidentally players that their current clubs want to sell as soon as possible, with deadline day deals a strong possibility.

And there is no better way to try to drive attention to your player than by including United’s name in the story.

According to Mike Keegan of MailSport, this view is held, especially since United will not have the cash to enter the market once Ugarte is signed.

“Believe Manchester United’s kitty is pretty much empty after Manuel Ugarte,” the journalist wrote on X.

“There’s a view the club’s name is being used in an attempt to smoke out bidders for Ivan Toney, Ben Chilwell & Raheem Sterling. It is that time of the window…”

Reliable reports from Fabrice Hawkins have now explained that Juventus and United have an agreement for Sancho’s initial loan.

There will be an obligation for the Italian club to sign the winger next summer, which has essentially ruled out any move for Sterling or Chilwell.
