Manchester United already have 24yo replacement for “absolutely outstanding” star lined up
Manchester United are already planning their summer business after the January transfer window slammed shut on Monday evening.
Ruben Amorim identified the need for reinforcements in his Manchester United squad ahead of the January transfer window, with wingback being the most pressing concern due to underwhelming performances from current options like Diogo Dalot.
To address the issue, United secured the signing of Patrick Dorgu for a reported £25 million, with the young talent expected to take over as the starting left-wingback in Amorim’s preferred lineup.
The club also strengthened its defense by bringing in left-sided centre-back Ayden Heaven, a move made even more crucial following Lisandro Martínez’s anterior cruciate ligament injury.
Meanwhile, Marcus Rashford and Antony have departed on loan, and Tyrell Malacia is expected to follow, with a move to PSV Eindhoven nearing completion. Several youth players have also been sent out on loan.
Bayindir increased game-time this season
Altay Bayındır looked like he could have departed the club in the January window beforehand, with minimal game-time under Erik ten Hag since signing for the club in 2023.
However, since the Dutchman’s departure, the Turkish international has made five appearances – more than double the amount he received under Ten Hag’s leadership.
He also greatly impressed in the FA Cup win over Arsenal, where he saved a penalty in normal time and in the shootout to lead United to the next round.
Ex-Premier League striker Alan Shearer described the goalkeepers’ performance on the night as “absolutely outstanding” and he is expected to start the fourth-round clash against Leicester City.
Bayindir summer exit rumours
Despite receiving more game-time this season, Bayındır’s long-term future at United remains in the air and a move could occur later this year.
According to a report from Turkish outlet Star, the back-up goalkeeper is planning to leave Old Trafford next summer and return to the Super Lig.
It was explained that Galatasaray have already started making attempts to prepare a deal for the 26-year-old when the summer window opens.
Meanwhile, the report added that United are considering a move for 24-year-old goalkeeper Anthony Patterson, who is currently at Sunderland.
Patterson would become the backup for André Onana and provide the opportunity for Bayındır to make a move to become a first-choice option elsewhere.
