Manchester United “already assume” they’ve secured their fourth transfer, Rúben Amorim can unleash “monster”

Manchester United reportedly assume that they have already secured their fourth summer signing as Rúben Amorim continues to improve his Old Trafford squad.

Manchester United have turned their focus to recruiting a new centre-forward as Rúben Amorim looks to add the final piece to his revamped attack ahead of the new season.

Bruno Fernandes finished as United’s leading scorer last season with 19 goals, while only three other players managed to hit double figures across all competitions.

To improve their attacking output, the club have spent £127.5 million on Matheus Cunha and Bryan Mbeumo, who netted 15 and 20 Premier League goals respectively.

Now fully integrated into the squad and training with their new teammates in the United States, both wingers have strengthened United’s wide options. Amorim’s attention has now turned to securing a central striker, with Benjamin Šeško reportedly identified as the club’s top target.

United working under the assumption Šeško signs

With Mbeumo, Cunha, and young left-back Diego Leon all in the squad, Amorim is well on his way to preparing for the 2025/26 Premier League campaign.

According to German transfer journalist Christopher Michel, United are now very optimistic that they will be able to seceure the Sloventian international this summer.

Michel has detailed on AbsolutFussball that United have ‘already assumed’ that they will be securing the 22-year-old this summer, with confidence high internally that an agreement will be reached.

United are said to see Šeško as the missing piece in Amorim’s 3-4-3 system at Old Trafford. There is a thought at the club that Šeško could turn into a top Premier League striker if he develops his game under Amorim, who could unleash a “monster” in England next season.

Although Newcastle are also in the running for his signature, United’s talks are more advanced, and if the striker signals his intent to join Old Trafford, they will push for a transfer.

United’s funding limits further signings

According to multiple reports over the last few months, United had sufficient funds to sign Cunha and Mbeumo before needing to sell, but their pursuit of Šeško, while only having so far sanctioned Rashford’s loan exit to Barcelona, tells a different story.

In his latest piece, Michel details that the club also had funds for one more player, but had been debating internally whether to spend that on a new midfielder or striker, with the club eventually opting to sign a third forward.

If they want to sign a new midfeidler and goalkeeper, the club must raise funds through the sales of players such as Alejandro Garnacho, who is wanted by Chelsea.

There has been debate surrounding who the club’s new striker signing would be, and last week, the list had been narrowed down to Šeško, Aston Villa’s Ollie Watkins, and Chelsea’s Nicolas Jackson.

But with Villa’s asking price for Watkins at £60 million and Chelsea wanting between £80-100 million for Jackson, United decided that their best option this summer was Šeško.
