Manchester United confirm Rúben Amorim XI vs Man City as Rasmus Højlund starts
Rúben Amorim has chosen to start Rasmus Højlund as Manchester United travel to face Manchester City in the Premier League on Sunday afternoon.
Rúben Amorim is leading Manchester United into a crucial Premier League clash against Manchester City, a significant challenge early in his tenure.
United arrive at the match buoyed by a 2-1 comeback victory over FC Viktoria Plzeň in the Europa League, where substitute Rasmus Højlund scored both goals to secure the win. Attention now shifts to the domestic stage as the busy festive schedule continues.
Manchester City, meanwhile, are enduring a dismal run, with just one win in their last ten matches across all competitions. Earlier this season, Pep Guardiola’s side suffered a resounding 4-1 defeat to Amorim’s Sporting, a loss that has lingered over City’s campaign.
With City’s hopes of a fifth consecutive Premier League title hanging by a thread, United will aim to deepen their struggles and improve their own league standing from 13th place when the two sides meet at the Etihad Stadium.
The XIs have been confirmed below, with Amorim starting Højlund as the spearhead of the front three. Marcus Rashford and Alejandro Garnacho have missed out for selection reasons.
