Manchester United defender Victor Lindelöf is now set to stay at Manchester United this summer following an INEOS decision with regards to his contract.

Victor Lindelöf has only played 20 games for Manchester United so far this campaign, with the Swedish international having suffered a series of injuries under Erik ten Hag.

The whole defensive line has been decimated by injury since the start of the campaign, with Diogo Dalot the only player who has not been hit with significant time on the sidelines this season.

Lindelöf has missed 20 games so far this campaign with hamstring and groin injuries, most recently being unavailable to face Chelsea or Liverpool in the league.

However, earlier this year, United, under the watch of INEOS, took the decision to extend Lindelöf’s contract by a further season in order to make sure he did not walk away for free at the end of the campaign.

Although some thought this was to help retain his value, it has now been claimed by Football Insider that he will not be departing Old Trafford – Sir Jim Ratcliffe and co want him to stay.

With the figures of Raphaël Varane, Jonny Evnas, and Harry Maguire all undecided, it may make sense for INEOS to keep the 29-year-old in order to ensure that they do not have to buy multiple new centre-backs for the coming campaign.

United confirmed earlier this month that Lindelöf would be out until the beginning of May after suffering a fresh injury during the tie against Brentford.
