Manchester United need a huge summer of transfers in order for new manager Amorim to climb the table next season, and they may be one step closer to securing a key target.
It has been a poor season from United by all accounts, with the Red Devils sat at 13th in the Premier League table and their only hope of silverware being winning the Europa League.
Sir Jim Ratcliffe and co. will be hoping next season proves to be more of a success for the club, with Amorim’s debut season proving to be turbulent to say the least.
To secure this vision of climbing the table next season, they need to sign some quality players in a number of different areas on the pitch.
One of those areas would be in attack, with Portuguese starlet Francisco Trincao tipped to be a favourite to join over the summer.
Agent Cristiano? Trincao advised to join United
As per United in Focus, it is understood that Trincao has been told to join the club by some big names in the footballing world, including Bruno Fernandes, Diogo Dalot and Cristiano Ronaldo.
There is international interest in the young winger; clubs such as AC Milan and United’s neighbours, Man City, are reported to be interested.
The ace up the sleeve for Amorim though, is that he managed Trincao at Sporting and the two are said to have a great relationship, with the winger being seen as an “ideal” attacking midfielder within our manager’s system by a number of people within the club.
If he does depart from Lisbon, the 25-year-old will be following in the footsteps of aforementioned superstars Fernandes and Ronaldo, with both of them proving themselves to be indispensable on their day.
The former Barcelona man is said to be keen to return to the Premier League after his 2021 loan spell to Wolves failed to gain the attacker many plaudits, scoring just four goals in 30 games.
United will have to be careful though, as his contract dictates that Barcelona are to receive half of all profits on any future transfers, meaning the club may end up paying way over the odds- a fate fans recently will know too well.
The Portuguese international also has a release clause of £50 million. Adding this to the fact that Sporting reportedly want to recover a minimum of £35 million for the player and that star striker Viktor Gyökeres is also seemingly on his way out, you can’t imagine this being cheap by any means.
The price of success for Amorim and Ratcliffe
Ratcliffe’s cost-cutting measures have attracted a lot of negative press in the past year, but this summer fans will hoping the billionaire’s vision comes to fruition in the form of a massive squad overhaul.
With Players like Rashford, Sancho and Antony out of the door, seemingly never to return, fans will be hoping that new attacking options will be brought in thick and fast before the start of the 25/26 season.
On that note, Trincao’s stats in the Primeira Liga will be enough to make some supporters’ mouths water. The attacker has scored a respectable eight goals and 11 assists in 26 games—the majority of which have been without Amorim.
If he does join, it will be just one of many attacking and defending alterations that need to occur in order for United to have any chance of returning to their former glory, but hopefully for the Red Devils, it is a start.
