Two Man United academy stars could be sold next summer, Erik ten Hag ‘really liked’ one of them
Manchester United will be making first-team sales next summer but there also may be departures from the Academy ranks.
Manchester United are slowly improving their levels under new head coach Ruben Amorim, despite mixed results since his arrival.
The players are learning the new tactics and system but it remains clear that signings will need to be made to take steps forward.
But the Reds are not in a financially strong situation and will need player sales in order to have a good summer window.
First-team players like Marcus Rashford and Casemiro are expected to leave, but there could also be further sales from within the Academy setup.
Gore and Collyer could be sold in the summer
Toby Collyer and Dan Gore are two of the best midfield talents within the Academy and the two 20-year-old’s have each made their first-team debuts at United.
Gore was extremely exciting and came through at a similar time to Kobbie Mainoo but has since suffered injury issues which have impacted his development.
According to a report from the Manchester Evening News, there is a chance that both Collyer and Gore could make permanent exits from the club in the summer.
It was explained that their futures depend on how the rest of the season pans out. It was not mentioned whether loans are expected for either player.
However, the report clarified that these type of home grown sales are viewed as ‘incredibly helpful’ in the books and that the club need to raise additional funds.
Ten Hag ‘really liked’ United starlet Collyer
The aforementioned report also explained that prior manager Erik ten Hag ‘really liked’ Collyer, who recorded ‘freakish’ running numbers in training.
He signed a new deal in the summer until June 2027, with Ten Hag making sure to turn up to the contract signing.

Ten Hag offered praise for the midfielder when he broke into the team towards the beginning of the season.
“He has had a very good pre-season,” Ten Hag said. “But before this, he earned being in the pre-season squad and he earned the minutes he got. He impressed.
“Therefore, he earns the right to play. It doesn’t matter if you are young or if you are old, if you won everything, if you learned nothing. You have to earn the right to play.”
However, with a new head coach in charge, things change. And it looks like both Collyer and Gore are fighting for their futures at Old Trafford.
