Juventus director makes thoughts on Joshua Zirkzee clear and obvious with 22-word message
One Juventus director has made his thoughts on Manchester United star Joshua Zirkzee clear and obvious with a 22-word message.
After a difficult start to his Manchester United career, summer signing Joshua Zirkzee‘s future at the club seems uncertain.
Many fans believe the striker doesn’t fit the profile favoured by new manager Ruben Amorim, who employs a 3-4-3 system, and he hasn’t adapted to Premier League football yet.
With just one goal and two assists in 19 appearances to match some underwhelming performances, speculation has grown that the 23-year-old could leave the club as early as this summer.
He has been regularly linked with Juventus, and recent reports have claimed a potential swap deal involving Douglas Luiz may be in discussion.
However, the Italian club’s managing football director Cristiano Giuntoli has spoken out on Zirkee and suggested that any deal is unlikely.
Despite complimenting the ‘very good’ forward, Giuntoli hinted that Juventus are looking elsewhere to bolster their attacking options.
“We are waiting for [Arkadiusz] Milik,” he told Tutto Mercato when asked about striker signings.
“Zirkzee is very good, but he is part of another team and I can’t say anything else. We’re thinking about something else.”
The Dutchman will be looking to improve his form at Old Trafford but faces a difficult test, especially since Rasmus Højlund looks to be the preferred no.9.
Fortunately for Zirkzee, it seems that Amorim is eager to rotate his team this season which will give him many opportunities to turn things around.
His two starts under the manager have been polar opposites. He scored twice against Everton and performed excellently on the ball.
But when he next started against Viktoria Plzen was an extremely poor display where he was substituted early in the second half.
Consistency will need to be found if he wants a long-term future at Old Trafford.
