Dwight Yorke has called for Manchester United to make a rather outrageous summer raid for Liverpool star in order to bolster Erik ten Hag’s squad.

Manchester United are looking to secure new signings this summer after a poor season under Erik ten Hag, which saw the side finish eighth in the Premier League table and out of the Champions League before Christmas.

An FA Cup final triumph over Manchester City helped save what many have seen as the worst season since Sir Alex Ferguson retired, but with new co-owner Sir Jim Ratcliffe and his INEOS team now in control at Old Trafford, things look on the up at United.

The club are looking to sign at least two defenders, a striker, a midfielder, and possibly a new full-back in the next two months. The latter comes with Aaron Wan-Bissaka subject to interest in the Premier League and abroad.

With the club looking for new signings in the market, club legend and former Manchester United striker Dwight Yorke has made the rather outrageous suggestion that United should attempt to sign Liverpool star Trent Alexander-Arnold this summer.

The 25-year-old has been a star performer under Jurgen Klopp over the last seven years, but with the German having left Anfield at the end of last season, there is potential for turbulence at the club under new manager Arne Slot.

Alexander-Arnold has been playing in midfield for England during the 2024 European Championships, and Yorke has suggested that should he become unhappy under Slot, United should look to pounce.

“I’m not sure Trent Alexander-Arnold would want to leave Liverpool as it’s his boyhood club, but Liverpool will be under transition now Jurgen Klopp has left, Yorke told the media in a recent interview with Best Online Poker Sites. “Maybe Alexander-Arnold can evolve as a midfielder under Slot.

“This could be another opportunity where, if Liverpool don’t perform under Slot and Alexander-Arnold becomes unhappy, Man United should do everything they can to sign him.

“I was the first person to suggest that Man United should have signed Leroy Sane when he started to become frustrated at Man City when he was on the bench frequently. Now, he’s one of the best players in Germany. Alexander-Arnold may have a similar opportunity which Man United should pounce on.

“Obviously, there is history between the clubs and Alexander-Arnold will know that as an Englishman, but it can be an opportunity to look out for.”
