Manchester United and Arsenal have learned a new asking price for one of their midfield targets in the coming transfer window.

Manchester United are aiming to strengthen their midfield by signing new central players this summer after a challenging season under Erik ten Hag.

The team struggled with consistency, frequently altering their midfield lineup due to injuries of key players such as Casemiro and Mason Mount, resulting in instability throughout the 2023/24 season.

Beyond this, it is expected that multiple midfielders will also leave this summer, with UtdDistrict understanding that the club are open to offers for Scott McTominay.

INEOS are currently assessing potential midfield signings for the 2024 summer transfer window, and multiple names have already begun cropping up, with one in particular being AS Monaco midfielder Youssouf Fofana.

According to Sports Digitale journalist Yağız Sabuncuoğlu, AS Monaco have now set a price of approximately £30 million for Fofana this summer. Should United sign Fofana, he would likely slot straight into the starting XI as the deepest of Ten Hag’s three midfielders, making him a high-profile signing.

He is attracting interest from several top clubs across Europe, including Arsenal and United. Initially, it was believed that Fofana could be acquired for around £17 million, but Monaco is said to be firm on its new, higher valuation.

Additionally, Fofana is seeking to sign a four-year contract worth just over £5 million per season, which equates to just short of £100,000 a week.

Arsenal and Manchester United have reportedly already contacted the player, but it remains to be seen if either club will enter formal negotiations with Monaco. Other interested clubs include Paris Saint-Germain and AC Milan.
