Manchester United told what they must do to sign Rúben Amorim’s “dream” player for £33.5m this summer
Manchester United have been told what they must do to secure Rúben Amorim’s “dream” player for a £33.5 million cash transfer fee this coming summer window.
Manchester United are set to prioritise attacking reinforcements this summer as Rúben Amorim’s side continue to struggle in front of goal.
United’s lack of firepower has been a persistent issue this season, with the team frequently failing to score more than once per match. Their inconsistent form at Old Trafford has only added to concerns.
Last month, the club loaned out several first-team forwards, including Antony to Real Betis, Marcus Rashford to Aston Villa, and Ethan Wheatley to Walsall for the remainder of the season.
Despite these departures, United did not strengthen their attacking options in January. Their only additions were defensive reinforcements—left-back Patrick Dorgu from Lecce and centre-back Ayden Heaven from Arsenal—though Amorim has hinted that Dorgu could also be utilised in a more advanced role.
Amorim’s “dream” transfer this summer
With United in desperate need for a new striker this summer, the club have been linked to a whole host of names such as Viktor Gyökeres, Liam Delap, Jean-Phillipe Mateta.
However, the name that most United fans have been most attracted by is that of Victor Osimhen, who is due to leave Napoli this summer and has a release clause of £62 million.
Osimhen fell out with the Serie A side’s ownership last summer and has spent the season on loan at Galatasaray, but is expected to depart to a top-five European league in the 2025 summer transfer window.
According to previous reports, Amorim sees Osimhen as his “dream” striker signing this summer, but United see the odds of them paying his release clause as increasingly difficult.
However, despite United’s potential lack of Champions League football next summer, transfer specialist Fabrizio Romano stated late last month that Osimhen would still be open to holding discussions with United.
How United can sign Osimhen for £33.5m
United have been offered potential hope in the deal of securing Amorim’s ideal striker signing, but it involves a transfer the other way.
Journalist Luca Cerchione, director of the Campania radio station, spoke of striker Rasmus Højlund and warned fans to keep an eye on the transfer, as Napoli would likely accept a swap deal should United offer Højlund as part of a €40 million (£33.5 million) transfer package.
“Keep an eye on the trial of Rasmus Højlund, which was reported to me last week,” Cerchione explained on the 1 Football Night radio show, as relayed by TuttoJuve.
“United have proposed Højlund to Napoli as part of the deal that could bring Victor Osimhen to Manchester United.
“In order for Osimhen’s price tag to drop, they will also talk about Højlund, who Conte likes a lot. We’ll see, we’ll follow this lead. €40 million, plus Højlund, would be a deal in favour of Napoli.”
