Four Premier League teams circling “nonsense” Manchester United player for summer move
Four Premier League clubs are reportedly circling a “nonsense” Manchester United player ahead of a pending exit from Old Trafford this summer.
Manchester United are set for a significant squad overhaul this summer as they look to maximise profits from player sales and generate funds for Rúben Amorim’s rebuild.
A major clear-out is expected in the upcoming transfer window, with several current squad members not suited to the demands of Amorim’s system.
The club will see multiple first-team players leave, including Victor Lindelöf and Christian Eriksen, whose contracts expire at the end of the season.
Additionally, United plan to offload players currently out on loan, such as Marcus Rashford, Antony, and Tyrell Malacia, while experienced figures like Casemiro are also likely to be moved on.
Four Premier League clubs eyeing Lindelöf
As mentioned above, Lindelöf will leave Old Trafford after eight years at the club once his contract expires in June, with the 30-year-old set for a new challenge this summer.
Previous reports have stated that the Swedish international captain is eyeing a move back to Benfica, the club he signed from in 2017, but there is also said to be interest from Premier League outfits.
According to CaughtOffside, West Ham, Everton, Wolverhampton Wanderers, and Fulham are all keeping a close eye on the player who has just returned from injury after a lengthy spell on the sidelines.
Aside from English clubs, three in Italy’s Serie A, AC Milan, Inter Milan, and Juventus, also have Lindelöf on a list of potential targets due to the fact he will be a free agent in the summer.
United fans’ rocky relationship with Lindelöf
The Swedish international has won two trophies while at the club, an FA Cup and Carabao Cup, both under Erik ten Hag, as he missed out on the three-trophy haul under Jose Mourinho during the 2016/17 season.
Despite making 270 appearances for United to date, fans have not always been convinced of Lindelöf as a centre-back at United, with some fans feeling his eight years at the club have been “nonsense” following a series of injuries and mixed form over that period.
However, from a personal perspective, Lindelöf playing over 250 games for one of the biggest clubs in the world is a terrific achievement.
However, United will be glad to see that, with the expiry of his contract, they will no longer have to shell out his £120,000-a-week wage, which can be put to use elsewhere.
