Manchester United could earn up to £13 million from Donny van de Beek’s pending transfer to La Liga club Girona this summer.

INEOS aim to offload as many fringe and outcast players as possible this summer, with Manchester United needing to raise significant funds in the 2024 transfer market.

Mason Greenwood and Jadon Sancho are almost certain to leave this summer following their respective exiles from the club last season. Other players, such as Scott McTominay and Victor Lindelöf, might also follow them out the door.

Additionally, several other players have been sidelined from the squad and are set to generate transfer funds. Notably, news broke on Saturday afternoon regarding Donny van de Beek.

According to reports from Spain, Van de Beek will leave Old Trafford permanently this summer and join La Liga side Girona, which is owned by the City Football Group. His transfer fee was claimed to be just below £500,000, and fans were shocked at the valuation.

However, further news has now broken explaining the more intricate details surrounding the deal, with the two clubs agreeing that the transfer fee will be heavily based on add-ons.

According to Fabrizio Romano, United will have a big sell-on clause. Further, it will be a small initial fee, with easy add-ons making up around £4 million. If more add-ons are achieved, the total fee could then be as much as £13 million.

An agreement is expected to be completed early next week, and Van de Beek will now need to settle on the details of his contract with the club.

Donny van de Beek’s career at Manchester United has been a disappointment, as he never managed to cement his place in the team. Initially overshadowed by Bruno Fernandes under Ole Gunnar Solskjær, a series of injuries and unsuccessful loan spells have prevented him from revitalizing his career.

Once a standout player under Erik ten Hag at Ajax, many hoped the Dutch manager’s arrival at United would provide Van de Beek with a fresh start, but this was not the case.

We wish Donny all the best in his next adventure.
