“Wants to go…” Manchester United dealt interesting Fabrizio Romano transfer update, solves two problems
Manchester United have been dealt an interesting transfer update from Fabrizio Romano that may solve two of their current transfer issues.
Manchester United have kicked off the summer transfer window impressively, signing Joshua Zirkzee from Bologna for £36 million and securing 18-year-old centre-back Leny Yoro from Lille for £52 million.
The capture of Yoro has been particularly lauded, with United and INEOS receiving praise for United’s work in beating Real Madrid to sign the young talent, signalling their ambitious future plans.

The club is also looking to strengthen their midfield and has been heavily linked with 23-year-old Manuel Ugarte from Paris St. Germain. Ugarte recently contributed to Uruguay’s third-place finish at the 2024 Copa America tournament.
In his latest update on the situation, transfer specialist Fabrizio Romano has confirmed that United could negotiate with PSG to loan the player with an obligation to buy this summer.
It has been reported that PSG wants as much as £70 million for Ugarte, but this structure could solve the current issue of this being more than they are able to spend.
“Manuel Ugarte said yes to Man United almost two weeks ago,” Romano said on his YouTube channel. “He wants to go to United. He agreed on personal terms, and he’s also waiting for May United to reach an agreement with Paris Saint-Germain.
“What I’m hearing is that PSG could also be open to a loan with an obligation to buy for Manuel Ugarte, but still an obligation, still a mandatory clause. Not a loan with a buy option, at least at the moment, then we know things can change in the market.
“But at the moment, PSG want an obligation or permanent transfer. And so, Let’s see what’s going to happen, but the player is waiting and still hoping to go to Manchester United, his priority for this summer.”
This is a tactic that is also being used in negotiations with another player. United are keen to bring Sofyan Amrabat back to the club this summer, and the latest reports have stated that United may opt to offer Fiorentina a loan deal with an obligation to buy the Morocco international this summer.
This structure could very much suit United, as they are strapped for cash this summer following the profit and sustainability restrictions currently surrounding many Premier League sides. This is a tactic that could solve both the problems of Amrabat and Ugarte’s respective transfers.
