Manchester United transfer ‘ruled out’ as club focus on different Old Trafford incoming
Manchester United have effectively ruled out a transfer this summer as they look to sign a new midfielder in the final weeks of the window.
Manchester United kicked off the 2024 transfer window on a high note, securing Joshua Zirkzee from Bologna and beating Real Madrid to sign Leny Yoro from Lille.
With these two acquisitions costing a combined £88 million, the club needed to sell players to fund further transfers. Erik ten Hag responded by sanctioning the departures of Mason Greenwood, Willy Kambwala, and Alvaro Fernandez, among others.

United then turned their attention to bolstering key positions, focusing on midfield, right-back, and centre-back signings.
It was revealed on Saturday that United had agreed on a fee with Bayern Munich for Matthijs de Ligt and Noussair Mazraoui, with both transfers set to be completed simultaneously.
With this in mind, some had wondered if United may now opt to sign a further striker this summer, but the latest reports have deemed this highly unlikely.
According to Sky Sports, United do not currently view signing a striker as a priority this summer, which rules out the touted transfer potentials of Ivan Toney and Dominic Calvert-Lewin, who have both been linked with the club.
It is further stated that for a new forward to be considered, the club would need to secure sales.
United are now focusing on bringing in a new midfielder this summer, and talks are taking place with those surrounding both AS Monaco’s Youssouf Fofana and Burnley’s Sander Berge.
Dialogue reportedly “remains open” surrounding the French international. Other claims have stated that Burnley will demand around £30 million for their 26-year-old, but should this fee be met, they would not stand in the way of his move.
