There is a Premier League player who “would love” to sign for Manchester United this summer, but his transfer to Old Trafford is unlikely.

Following their £139 million outlay on Joshua ZirkzeeLeny YoroMatthijs de Ligt, and Noussair Mazraoui, Manchester United are now focusing on offsetting these costs through player sales.

The club has already raised £55 million from the sales of Aaron Wan-BissakaMason GreenwoodWilly Kambwala, among others, and is looking for further opportunities in the market before the transfer window closes next Thursday.

United is keen to reinforce their midfield by the 30 August deadline and has set their sights on Paris St. Germain midfielder Manuel Ugarte. According to Fabrizio Romano, Ugarte is vigorously pursuing a transfer to Old Trafford.

While Ugarte is very much the priority at United, Premier Legau and Tottenham Hotspur player Sergio Reguilón, who has previous at United having spent six months at the club on loan last season, would love to return, according to Fabrizio Romano.

“Another player who would love to return to Manchester United is Sergio Reguilón. He was already at the club one year ago, and he would be really open to returning,” Romano told The United Stand.

“Man United are really aware of his situation at Tottenham and that may be an opportunity again in the final days because he has to leave Tottenham in the final days.”

However, reports suggest that Reguilón’s move to United is unlikely, as the club have already ruled out signing another left-back this summer.

According to The Athletic, despite the injuries to Luke Shaw and Tyrell Malacia, signing another left-back this summer will not be on their agenda.

Shaw is likely to return for the club in mid-September, while Malacia may be back in action in November. United also have plenty of auxiliary cover in the position, with Lisandro Martínez, Diogo Dalot, and Mazraoui all having previous experience on the left flank.
