One Manchester United target is “excited” about a potential Old Trafford transfer, and a reported £100,000 per week contract is on the table.

The Reds have completed two signings so far this summer – Leny Yoro and Joshua Zirkzee – but further additions are needed.

Erik ten Hag’s squad are in desperate need of midfield signings and they are now looking at various options after determining that Manuel Ugarte’s price tag is too high.

According to The Sun, the Reds have already made contact with Sander Berge’s representatives and are willing to spend £20 million on the 26-year-old.

However, the report added that Burnley are hoping to hold out for around £30 million after signing the midfielder for £12 million last year.

Should an agreement be reached between the clubs, it was added that United would be offering the player a contract worth £100,000 per week.

Berge, who was previously linked to a United move back in 2020, is “excited” about the prospect of making the move to Old Trafford.

The potential move has caused differing opinions within the United fanbase. Some are suggesting that it is the kind of move that the club need to move towards.

Yet, others are extremely underwhelmed by the rumours, with Berge having been relegated from the Premier League last season.

It remains to be seen whether a deal materialises, but there does not seem to be any standout deeper midfield players available this summer, which could inclufence the club to look for a “stopgap” signing.
