Manchester United determined to sign “wonderful” star, “concrete” efforts taken to secure January transfer
According to a new report, Manchester United are now “determined” to secure a “wonderful” star’s signing in the January transfer window, with concrete efforts being made.
Manchester United are within the 2025 January transfer window while the club is navigating a difficult period, having endured four consecutive defeats across the Premier League and Carabao Cup before the new year.
A battling 2-2 draw with league leaders Liverpool, however, has offered a glimmer of hope, easing some of the anxiety around the team’s form.
Rúben Amorim is tasked with addressing the squad’s glaring weaknesses, including the need for a left-back, a centre-back, a striker, and multiple midfielders. However, financial constraints caused by heavy spending under Erik ten Hag have made significant reinforcements a difficult prospect.
To navigate this situation, United are prioritising player sales in January and the summer, aiming to free up funds and create the resources needed to rebuild and steady the ship.
United intensifying efforts for Kolo Muani
According to Sky Sports journalist Florian Plettenberg, United are now stepping up their efforts in signing Paris St. Germain forward Randal Kolo Muani this month.
With Marcus Rashford likely to leave on loan, potentially to Serie A side AC Milan, United are in desperate need of securing new attacking talent after goalscoring inconsistencies under Amorim.
Plettenberg claims that United are now “becoming more concrete” in their efforts to sign Kolo Muani this month.
It is said that the club are now “determined” to do everything they can to secure the French international’s signing in the January transfer window.
Continuing, the German journalist claims that United have held very specific talks with the player’s management, and talks with the Ligue 1 side he is contracted to are expected to follow.
In an ideal world, United would like to take the player on loan with the option of buying him permanently in the summer. However, they still face competition from clubs such as Chelsea, Aston Villa, Tottenham, Juventus, and AC Milan, among others.
Why do United need Kolo Muani?
While there are evident problems in front of goal at the Old Trafford side, a more root cause of the problem is due to a lack of creativity in the side.
Beyond Bruno Fernandes and Amad, United are lacking creative flair in the team, but Kolo Muani could fix this.
Dubbed “wonderful” within a scouring report published by TheMastermindSite in 2022, the 26-year-old is described as a “creative link” rather than an out-and-out goalscorer, which may be precisely what Amorim’s men are crying out for.
The forward has previously played in a 3-4-3 system under Oliver Glasner at Eintracht Frankfurt, so will have little issue fitting into a similar system that Amorim has deployed within his new squad.
