20 y/o star ‘chooses’ Manchester United over Man City, has ‘already spoken’ with Rúben Amorim
According to a new report, one 20-year-old star has already expressed his desire to sign for Manchester United over Man City and has spoken to Rúben Amorim.
Following Rúben Amorim‘s arrival as the club’s new head coach, Manchester United‘s 2025 transfer plans are taking shape.
Amorim replaced Erik ten Hag as United boss after the Dutchman left the club 14th in the Premier League and 21st in the Europa League despite spending more than £200 million on new players in the summer.

United are set to be operating under a much more limited budget going forward, with the club keen to see Rúben Amorim focus on improving those already at his disposal.
However, although purchases in January are unlikely, United are still looking to prepare for new signings in the summer months, with multiple sales likely.
Diomandé’s United interest
As revealed by UtdDistrict, Rúben Amorim is looking to sign a new centre-back in the summer window, although for now he remains happy with the group of options he has in the position.
According to Sky Sport, new Manchester City sporting director Hugo Viana is targeting 20-year-old Sporting CP centre-back Ousmane Diomandé for the reigning Premier League champions.
However, according to the report, Diomandé has already spoken with Amorim following the 39-year-old’s move to United and is thought to understand that a move to Old Trafford under Amorim may be more beneficial for his development.
It is stated that the Ivory Coast international is “tending” towards the Red side of Manchester, and should he join in the summer, he may be able to slot straight into the starting XI.
Multiple futures in doubt
At United, the club may see as many as three centre-backs leave in the summer.
Jonny Evans is out of contract and looks unlikely to sign an extension. His initial one-year deal was only extended by one more season in the summer, making it a slim chance that United will hand him a third one-year deal in a row.
Victor Lindelöf is also out of contract in June 2025 and is set to leave, having fallen well down the pecking order after eight years at Old Trafford.
Of the three, Harry Maguire is the least likely to leave, but with the English centre-back only getting older and United yet to activate the one-year extension in his contract (current expiry: June 2025), he may also be sacrificed.
