Marcus Rashford’s future at Manchester United has been much debate, and Arsenal have become the latest club linked with a move for Rúben Amorim’s winger.

Marcus Rashford is expected to leave Manchester United in 2025 after an eye-opening interview revealed the 27-year-old’s desire for a fresh challenge.

Once a key figure in United’s attack, Rashford reached his pinnacle with a 30-goal season under Erik ten Hag in 2022/23. However, his form has since declined, and he has struggled to find his place under Rúben Amorim.

Amad and Bruno Fernandes have become regulars in United’s attacking setup, pushing Rashford further down the pecking order. The situation has worsened for the forward, who has not featured in the last six matches.

A lifelong Red, Rashford has spent nearly 20 years at the club. He burst onto the scene at 18 with a dream debut, scoring twice against FC Midtjylland in the Europa League and adding another brace days later against Arsenal in the Premier League.

Reports suggest United are open to loaning Rashford out in January, with a permanent move likely in the summer. His departure seems inevitable, bringing an end to an extraordinary chapter at Old Trafford as he looks ahead to the next phase of his career.

United fans react to Arsenal’s Rashford proposal

According to Sky Italia journalist Massimo Marianella, Arsenal have initiated contact with United surrounding Rashford and stated they would be open to taking the player for around £21 million.

“It seems that Arsenal have made a phone call to Manchester United for Rashford. The club [Arsenal] has valued him at €25 million,” he said, as relayed by SpazioJ.

However, in reaction to the news, United fans have taken sourly to the report, explaining their distain at the offer and thought of the Academy graduate at Arsenal.

disrespectful,” while another warned United it would be a “mistake” to offload Rashford to another Premier League club, referencing Jadon Sancho’s form at Chelsea.

This wouldn’t be the first time an Academy player ended up at Arsenal, with Danny Welbeck famously switching Old Trafford for the Emirates in 2015.

Rashford’s move to Arsenal is unlikely

Ultimately, Rashford transferring from United to Arsenal is an unlikely move.

Aside from the fact that United and Arsenal are long-standing Premier League rivals, Rashford has a whole number of suitors across Europe that would see him engage in a whole new environment.

The club most likely to land Rashford, as it stands, is AC Milan, with TBR Football reporting that the Serie A club are now pushing ahead with their desire to secure him on loan for the remainder of the season.

Sky Sports have also reported that United are now leading towards sending Rashford out on a straight loan for the remainder of the season, reiterating that Milan is the club at the forefront of negotiations.

Reporter Dharmesh Sheth reports that United are open to letting him leave on a dry loan and then returning to reassess his position at the club in the summer.

However, they accept that they would have to pay a significant portion of his £325,000 a week wages to get a loan move over the line.
