Manchester United’s top target ‘left out of training’ as club make transfer decision
Manchester United’s top midfield transfer target Manuel Ugarte has been “left out” of Paris St. Germain training as Erik ten Hag’s club make a decision on midfield transfers this summer.
Manchester United made a strong impression at the start of the summer transfer window by signing Joshua Zirkzee from Bologna for £36 million and securing 18-year-old centre-back Leny Yoro from Lille for £52 million.
The acquisition of Yoro was particularly celebrated, with United and INEOS earning praise for outmanoeuvring Real Madrid, signalling their ambitious future plans.

They then focused on outgoings to secure a fresh influx of cash, with Mason Greenwood, Willy Kambwala, and Aaron Wan-Bissaka making way for new signings.
The club have since announced Matthijs de Ligt and Noussair Mazraoui as new transfers, with the two players joining for a combined initial £51 million plus add-ons.
United are eager to bolster their midfield and has been heavily linked with Paris St. Germain’s 23-year-old Manuel Ugarte, who played a crucial role in Uruguay’s third-place finish at the 2024 Copa America tournament.
According to French journalist Loïc Tanzi, as a sign of his desire to see the player sold, PSG manager Luis Enrique has left the player out of training, and he could leave the club before the end of the window.
Ugarte has been touted as United’s first-choice transfer for the position this summer, but with PSG demanding up to £70 million for him, they cannot afford this price point.
Fabrizio Romano has explained that his agent, Jorge Mendes, is in England to discuss United’s potential acquisition of Ugarte this summer.
The transfer expert also noted that United “need” either the transfer asking price to drop or they need to complete another sale; otherwise, they will go for a cheaper option.
They have been linked with AS Monaco’s Youssouf Fofana and Burnley’s Sander Berge in the last few weeks, with talks also ongoing between clubs surrounding the conditions of a transfer.
UtdDistrict have learned that United have made the decision to sign a new midfielder before the end of the transfer window, regardless of whether any other sales are completed ahead of deadline day.
Ideally, the club would want to bring in two midfielders before the end of August, but signing a second player in the position would depend on outgoings.
It is understood that one player that the club have held talks with is AS Monaco and French international Youssouf Fofana and that the club are looking into a potential transfer.
