Manchester United “increasingly confident” of Victor Osimhen transfer alternative, Rúben Amorim watched him
Manchester United are reportedly becoming “increasingly confident” that they have a chance to land an alternative to Victor Osimhen after Rúben Amorim watched him play.
Manchester United are set to prioritise attacking reinforcements this summer as Rúben Amorim’s side continue to struggle in front of goal.
United’s lack of firepower has been a persistent issue this season, with the team frequently failing to score more than once per match. Their inconsistent performances at Old Trafford have only deepened concerns.
Last month, the club loaned out several first-team forwards, including Antony to Real Betis, Marcus Rashford to Aston Villa, and Ethan Wheatley to Walsall for the remainder of the season.
Despite these departures, United did not strengthen their attacking options in January. Their only additions were defensive reinforcements—left-back Patrick Dorgu from Lecce and centre-back Ayden Heaven from Arsenal—though Amorim has hinted that Dorgu could also be deployed in a more advanced role.
Osimhen not a hot topic at United
Despite a plethora of recent links between United and Napoli striker Victor Osimhen, according to a new report, these are wide of the mark.
According to Sport1 journalist Christopher Michel, the Nigerian international’s name is “not a hot topic” at Old Trafford as the 26-year-old’s mega-money transfer is the type of deal the club are trying to stay away from.
However, with Rasmus Højlund, Joshua Zirkzee, and Alejandro Garnacho all continuing to fail to provide goals for the club, there is no doubt that United and Amorim will look to still sign a new striker this summer.
Previous reports have stated that United only have around £20 to £30 million in the bank to spend this summer, but it’s thought that the club are prepared to sell some high-value assets in order to fund fresh transfers.
United “increasingly confident” in potential Osimhen alternative
Amid the report that United are not currently pursuing a transfer for Osimhen, a new report form GiveMeSport has explained the club are becoming “increasingly confident” that they have a chance of landing Ipswich Town striker Liam Delap.

Amorim recently had the chance to watch Delap first-hand for the second time this season as Ipswich fell to a 3-2 loss at Old Trafford, where the English striker showed himself to be a threat up front despite not scoring.
According to the report, United feel an agreement for Delap is a much more achievable objective compared to Osimhen, although they fear the England U21 international will be in high demand this summer.
It is stated that Chelsea tried to test Ipswich’s resolve in the winter window, but the Tractor Boys stood firm and demanded a fee of £50 million, although this may be reduced in the summer if the club fail to avoid relegation from the Premier League.
