Leroy Sane hands Manchester United big transfer hint, admits “sympathy” for the Premier League
Bayern Munich’s Leroy Sane has addressed the speculation surrounding a potential move to Manchester United or Arsenal in the coming transfer windows.
Following Rúben Amorim‘s appointment as Manchester United‘s new head coach, the club’s transfer strategy for 2025 is beginning to take shape.
Amorim succeeded Erik ten Hag, who departed with United languishing in 14th place in the Premier League and 21st in the Europa League, despite a summer outlay exceeding £200 million on new signings.

Looking ahead, United are expected to operate with a significantly reduced budget, with the focus shifting towards Amorim developing the talent already at his disposal.
While January acquisitions appear unlikely, the club are laying the groundwork for potential summer signings, with several player sales anticipated to facilitate reinforcements.
Sane reponds to links
In recent months, United have been closely linked with Leroy Sane, while the Bayern Munich winger has also been touted with a possible move to Arsenal.
Sane’s current contract expires in June 2025, and in order to stay at Bayern, it’s been said he must take a wage reduction. However, the 28-year-old has explained that he is happy under Vincent Kompany and that money is not his motivating factor.
“I have confidence in myself, in the situation and also in my club. We are in a transparent and relaxed exchange,” Sane told SportBild.
“I feel really good, the talks with Vinni [Kompany], Max Eberl, and Christoph Freund are very good and trusting. That’s why my thoughts are currently only on Bayern, we will see everything else in the next few weeks and months.
“The topic [money] is not on my mind at all right now. And how much I earn is not my top priority. To be honest, I haven’t thought about it for a second.”
Sane’s hint to United
Speaking further, Sane was asked if he would leave the club in January, to which he insisted that he would, at the very least, see out his contract with the Bundesliga leaders.
‘”I will definitely not sign for another club on January 1 or 2,” he said. “I don’t need a quick decision.”
Asked about a possible return to the Premier League, Sane explained that he continues to watch the league. In a big hint to United, he said he demands his next club be able to help him show his best abilities, which he currently has at Bayern.
“I have a sympathy for the league, I still watch certain games on TV.
“The attraction for me lies in the club where I can show my best performance, develop and win titles. I have that at Bayern. This is where I have my greatest challenge and goals.”
