Manchester United keeping “dialogue open” for much-needed transfer following Leny Yoro signing
Manchester United are set to announce the signing of 18-year-old centre-back Leny Yoro in the coming days following their hijack of Real Madrid’s deal.
Erik ten Hag and co. have been hunting for centre-back reinforcements this summer following a 2023/24 season that saw them concede over eighty goals across all competitions and finish eighth in the Premier League table.
With reinforcements necessary, Manchester United took a punt at signing 18-year-old prodigy defender Leny Yoro, who, by all accounts, was destined for Real Madrid.

But breaking news from Wednesday morning confirmed that the Old Trafford club had managed to persuade the youngster to fly to Manchester to undergo his medical and sign terms on a five-year contract until 2029, with the option for a further year’s extension if the club choose to do so.
Yoro will undergo the final checks on his medical examinations on Thursday morning. Then, in the afternoon, he will sign his contract ahead of his £52 million move from Lille.
However, this is not the only deal the club have been working on over the last month. According to Sky Sports, “dialogue is open” between United and Paris St. Germain for Manuel Ugarte.
Ugarte rose to prominence in 2022/23 with fantastic midfield performances for Sporting, but PSG manager Luis Enrique has deemed him surplus to requirements after one year in Paris, with United interested.
Although there were rumours of a £38 million bid, these were said to be premature, but with Scott McTominay subject to intense interest from both Premier League clubs and Turkey, a sale cannot be ruled out.
Reports on Wednesday evening claimed that United had rejected Fulham’s offer of around £17 million for the Scottish international, who are considering a second bid.
If that were the case, United would likely pounce on signing Ugarte as a replacement with Ten Hag also needing reinforcements in midfield.
