Manchester United are reportedly keeping tabs on a record-breaking wonderkid following a “special” international performance last week.
Manchester United are expected to prioritise attacking reinforcements this summer as Rúben Amorim’s side continue to struggle for consistency in front of goal.
With Bruno Fernandes often carrying the creative burden, United’s front line has largely underperformed, regularly failing to find the net. Their inconsistent home form at Old Trafford has only added to growing frustration.
In the January transfer window, the club loaned out three attacking players: Antony to Real Betis, Marcus Rashford to Aston Villa, and Ethan Wheatley to Walsall for the remainder of the season.
Despite those exits, United did not bring in any attacking replacements. The only additions were defensive—left wing-back Patrick Dorgu from Lecce and 18-year-old centre-back Ayden Heaven from Arsenal—leaving supporters questioning the club’s short-term planning.
United keeping tabs on Greek wonderkid
With United wanting fresh players in attack, the club have been looking at signing young players who can grow into stars at Old Trafford instead of buying ready-made talents.
According to TBR, one forward United are keeping tabs on is 17-year-old Konstantinos Karetsas, who has been shining for Genk in the Belgian Pro League this season.
The Greek international has played 30 times for the Belgian side this season, scoring twice and providing four assists, mainly playing as an attacking midfielder but also providing performances on the left-wing, too.
According to the report, United had representatives at Hampton Park to watch Karetsas as Greece defeated Scotland 3-0 in the Nations League, with those from Liverpool and Newcastle also present.
Karetsas breaks international record with “special” display
Greece’s 3-0 win in Glasgow meant Scotland were relegated from League B to League C in the competition, with Karetsas breaking a record in the process.

The young attacker scored Greece’s second goal of the night shortly before half-time and in the process, became the country’s youngest-ever goalscorer in the process.
Former Scotland winger Pat Nevin revealed after the fixture that Scotland international manager Steve Clarke feels Karetsas is a pretty special future talent.
“I thought he made a huge difference,” Nevin noted. “Chatting to Steve Clarke afterwards, he agreed the young lad is pretty special and somebody that needs to be kept a really close eye on.”
