Manchester United star ‘agrees terms’ on January transfer despite Rúben Amorim transfer plea
According to a new report, Manchester United star Joshua Zirkzee has now agreed terms on a move away from Old Trafford despite Rúben Amorim’s transfer plea.
Manchester United enter the 2025 January transfer window in turmoil, coming off four consecutive defeats in the Premier League and Carabao Cup. However, a recent 2-2 draw with Liverpool has calmed the nerves of supporters.
Rúben Amorim is tasked with rejuvenating a squad in desperate need of reinforcements. However, years of heavy spending under Erik ten Hag have left the club financially constrained, complicating efforts to address their glaring weaknesses.
United urgently require a left-back, at least one centre-back, a striker, and several midfielders to strengthen the team. With limited funds available, their strategy now hinges on offloading players in January and the summer to generate the resources needed for a rebuild.
The months ahead will be critical as the club look to balance financial recovery with the need for immediate on-pitch improvements.
Zirkzee agrees terms with Juventus
Joshua Zirkzee is one player who has been continually linked with a move away from Old Trafford, despite signing for the club just eight months ago for £36 million.
His poor start to life at Old Trafford has seen the striker score just four goals in his opening 28 appearances, providing just a further two assists in that time, too.
According to the Italian outlet La Gazzetta Dello Sport, Serie A side Juventus have now agreed on terms with Zirkzee for a move away from United this month.
However, it’s stated that United remain keen on only letting go of Zirkzee if a permanent offer comes in and would also accept a loan move with an obligation to buy, but that a short-term loan move is not on the table.
The Turin side are not currently in a strong enough position financially to buy Zirkzee outright, and it’s said that even if they were, they would rather prioritise securing new defensive reinforcements.
The report claims that Juventus would only consider a permanent transfer for Zirkzee if they can offload current striker Dusan Vlahovic. However, even then, there are concerns about whether the 23-year-old is Vlahovic’s best possible replacement.
Amorim’s transfer plea surrounding Zirkzee
Amid the consistent rumours surrounding Zirkzee’s future, Amorim was asked point blank about the Dutchman’s future at United.
“I want to keep Josh because he gives everything and he’s trying in training but we don’t know,” the 39-year-old said in reply.
“The window is open and we will see what happens. We just need to focus on training and to take this for the other games. It’s just one point so let’s focus on the performance for the next games.”

Reports earlier this week have indicated that United would be reluctantly open to offers for any of the players in Amorim’s current side.
It has been claimed that Kobbie Mainoo, Alejandro Garnacho, and Rasmus Højlund no longer immune to a transfer.
