Manchester United engage in “concrete talks” for ‘one of the best young strikers in Europe’
Manchester United are reportedly in concrete talks for one of the best young strikers in Europe amid Rúben Amorim’s hunt for a new star striker.
Manchester United are expected to make attacking reinforcements a key priority this summer as Rúben Amorim’s side continue to lack consistency in front of goal.
Aside from Bruno Fernandes, United’s frontline has struggled for form throughout the campaign, with the forwards regularly failing to make an impact. Their unpredictable performances at Old Trafford have only deepened the concern.
In January, the club loaned out several first-team attackers — Antony to Real Betis, Marcus Rashford to Aston Villa, and Ethan Wheatley to Walsall for the rest of the season.
However, no replacements were brought in to bolster the attack. The only arrivals were defensive — Patrick Dorgu, a left wing-back from Lecce, and 18-year-old centre-back Ayden Heaven from Arsenal — leaving fans puzzled by the club’s approach and hoping for attacking reinforcements this summer.
United engage in three-way transfer talks
With United keen to sign a new striker this summer but wary of a limited budget, the club are looking for transfers that represent good value-for-money deals.
In light of this, many have pointed to Lille striker Jonathan David as a possible option, with the 25-year-old’s contract expiring this summer, leaving him as a free agent who would not command a transfer fee to sign.
According to French outlet Le10Sport, United have now entered into “concrete talks” with the Canadian international’s representatives as they look to propose a contract to sign the player.
However, United are just one of three clubs who are in said talks, with Premier League rivals Arsenal and Tottenham both chasing the player who has 23 goals and ten assists in 41 appearances this season.
David one of the best young strikers in the world
Jonathan David has been a name that has been long-linked with a host of Premier League clubs, as well as the big hitters in La Liga – although he has stayed in Ligue 1 for longer than most expected.

Zack Lowy, known for his affinity to French football, recently explained why he feels David never quite gets the flowers he deserves, and that the player is “one of the best young strikers” across Europe right now.
The stats back this claim up. As well as David’s fantastic record this season, the player also provided 26 goals and eight assists in 47 appearances last campaign and 26 goals and four assists in the season before that.
The Canadian international has shown himself to be a reliable source of goals ever since he broke through with KAA Gent in Belgium, having notched 144 career goals to date.
Should United land the player, they may have found themselves a very reliable goalscorer for the commencement of the Amorim era at Old Trafford.
