Manchester United ‘considering’ fresh bid for failed 2024 transfer target
Manchester United are reportedly considering re-entering the race for a failed 2024 transfer target as Rúben Amorim eyes fresh reinforcements in defence.
Manchester United will need to sign new defenders in the summer transfer window as Rúben Amorim looks to fix the number of goals his side are conceding.
In the winter market, the club reinforced their options as they brought in young centre-back Ayden Heaven from Arsenal and wing-back Patrick Dorgu from Lecce, although Lisandro Martínez has now been ruled out until up to November.
United are also expected to see multiple current defenders depart this summer. Victor Lindelöf will leave once his contract expires in June, while Jonny Evans is also currently expected to move on.
There are also questions about the futures of Luke Shaw and Tyrell Malacia. The former has not started for United in almost a year due to injuries, while the latter is on loan at PSV and is not a part of Amorim’s long-term plans.
United eyeing 2024 transfer target
Last summer, United were linked endlessly with France centre-back Jean-Clair Todibo, with the then-OGC Nice player keen on a switch to Old Trafford.
However, as Sir Jim Ratcliffe was the owner of the clubs on both sides of the deal, a transfer was blocked, and the 25-year-old ended up making a switch to West Ham on loan with an option to buy for around £35 million.
However, according to GiveMeSport, with Todibo not having made a brilliant impact at the London club, United are considering re-entering the race for him this summer.
It is said that there are murmurs that the France international could become available again this summer, and that Juventus are also keeping tabs on his situation.
Other defenders United are tracking
Another player United are said to be tracking is Bournemouth centre-back Dean Huijsen, who has been stunning for the South Coast club since he joined in the summer.

Various reports have stated that Huijsen has a release clause that’s set to become active for around £50-55 million this summer, and there will no doubt be significant interest in the 19-year-old.
Multiple outlets have explained that although United are interested, the young star is being targeted by numerous big clubs such as Real Madrid, Liverpool, Chelsea, and Barcelona, meaning United have significant competition.
Huijsen scored at Old Trafford earlier this season when he headed in a free kick during a 3-0 win for Bournemouth over United.
